Celebrating 12 Days of Needlepoint – Day 9

On the Ninth Day of Needlepoint we have a fun and charming collection of ornaments. I really love the Shelly Tribbey ice skate with the metal blade and the nutcracker mouse ornament finished with the crystal.

This wonderful holiday collection was shared by Mary Lynn. Mary Lynn needlepoints her monogram and year and usually has it added to the back of her ornaments. On the nutcracker mouse you can see her personal tag, I always admire this added touch.

New Stitch Monday With a Twist – Week 3

Continuing on my journey of learning 11 new stitches for the Raymond Crawford “Needlepoint” canvas I found a fun stitch for the second letter “E”. The Upright Oriental stitch was just perfect. I used 4 stands of Splendor S1074 for the main part of the stitch (shown light blue) and then added Neon Rays N116 for the accent lines (shown dark blue).

There have been discussions about how far to take your vertical stitches. I take them right to the edge because when I don’t it looks to me as if I skipped a stitch or two. Some stitchers don’t like a crowed look. It your personal choice.

When using Neon Rays or and type of ribbon it is a good idea to use a laying tool to help keep it flat. Try to use a laying tool that does not have a sharp point because it can catch on the ribbon and make a pull. Another trick is to use a small flat iron and run the ribbon through it. Of course I’m sure you all know where to order one from.

Another idea for this stitch would be to use an over-dyed thread for the main section and a solid thread for the accent lines.

Holiday Hours & New Canvases in Stock

Now that we got some snow it is beginning to look like Christmas. Not that we need any more stuff to deal with this year.

Our holiday hours will be:

Open – Tuesday & Wednesday (12/22 & 12/23) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm by appointment.

We will be closed Thursday, Friday & Saturday (12/24, 12/25 & 12/26).

Open – Tuesday & Wednesday (12/29 & 12/30) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm by appointment.

We will be closed on Thursday & Friday (12/31 & 1/1).

Open – We will resume our regular hours on Saturday, 1/2. Please be sure to make an appointment before you come to the shop.

Back in stock! Labors of Love 3-piece Christmas Tree & Mrs. Claus. We also just got in the new 3-piece Santa! These would be great to stitch over the holidays. Start now and have them ready for next Christmas.

To complete your set, here is a picture of Stephanie’s finished 3-piece Snowman. She made a few changes and added beads for the hat, heart buttons & the color of the scarf so she could leave it out through Valentine’s Day.

Celebrating 12 Days of Needlepoint – Day 5

On the Fifth Day of Needlepoint we share photos from two trees! The tree with the blue ribbons has a wonderful beach themed ornaments. The green ribbon tree also has a collection of cheerful and brightly colored needlepoint ornaments. The beach bucket ornament with the shells has been a big seller for us and we can have our painter add any beach name to make it special for your family.
