New Stitch Monday – Double Diamond

As I was looking through the stitches that I have graphed out for the various stitch guides that we have at the shop I came across this great stitch that was used in Kate Dickerson’s “Be Mine” Heart.  The stitch was used as the background using 3 different threads.  The diamond was stitched using 2 strands of Gloriana (shown in yellow).  The slanted stitches were stitched using Silk Lame Braid (shown in green) and the cross stitch was done using Entice (shown in pink).  This stitch can be adapted for either 18 or 13 count canvases.

We are still offering Kate Dickerson’s Heart Club.  There are 4 different packages available.  Give the shop a call if you are interested in stitching some great hearts!

I have to admit I have not done this stitch but am adding it to my list of new stitches to try.  I hope you will give it a try!

New Canvases from Prairie Designs

 New Canvases from Prairie Designs

Here are 2 Prairie Designs canvases that are in stock at the shop.  The floral bouquet is really going to be a lot of fun to stitch.  Using beads, embellishments and ribbons will help you create a one-of-a-kind dimensional masterpiece.  Consider padding the white flowers with either felt or cotton and then string white pearl beads over the padding.  Messy beading would be great for the smaller flowers.  If you need more ideas just let us know and we will help you out.

There are several different ways you can stitch the dog canvas.  The T-Stitch would be great for the window using   Kreinik 032.    Very Velvet would be great for the arm chair.   Use Neon Rays for the curtain.

Let us know if one of these canvases is calling your name.

Staff Pick Wednesday – The Crown

Staff Pick Wednesday – The Crown

The Crown

We have the perfect canvas for you.  With the new season of the Crown beginning sometime in November why not stitch a crown.   This canvas can really be jazzed up.  If you love beading there are so many places that gold beads can be used either in the background or on the crown.  Not much of a beading nut use gold Kreinik or Entice.   Consider padding the pearls with a cotton thread and then cover it with Neon Ray or Neon Rays Plus.  Use crystal embellishments in the band.   This glorious canvas is on sale today for $73.

New Stitch Monday – Criss Cross Hungarian

New Stitch Monday – Criss Cross Hungarian

One of our favorite stitches at the shop is the Criss Cross Hungarian.  It is a very versatile stitch that can be used just about anywhere on your canvas as well as making a great background.   There are several different thread options that you can use.  On the dreidel shown below, I used a blue Neon Rays Plus for the main stitch and then added white Neon Rays for the cross stitch.  You can use coordinating colored threads such as Splendor for the main stitch and Neon Rays, Entice or Kreinik for the cross stitch.  If you are not looking to add any glitter choose your main colored thread and then add a lighter or darker colored thread for the cross stitch.  Of course, you could use the same colored thread for the entire stitch.  It’s always fun playing around with the threads till you get the look you want for your canvas.

Give it a try!
