The Diagonal Hungarian Ground stitch is nice stitch that can work just about anywhere in your canvas. I find in easy to compensate without too much stress. The beauty of this stitch is that you can jazz it up by adding a metallic thread for the Mosaic stitch, use 2 different colored threads or use coordinating colored threads like I did in the sample below.
My canvas was 18 count. To begin this stitch, I used 4 strands of Splendor for the section shown in green on the diagram. If your canvas is 13 count you would use 6 strands of Splendor. Once that is done, I then added the Mosaic stitch, shown in yellow. I find by doing each row at a time you avoid any missteps thus no ripping out! Give it a try!
